Customer Review: Honestly, I am shocked at all these bad reviews. I received this book a few years ago as a gift and have tried several of the recipes. I have tried baking the cookies with vegetable shortening, butter, vegan butter, regular eggs, and vegan egg replacer and the cookies turn out delicious and beautiful every single time. Every time I have ever made cookies from this book I get tons of rave reviews from everyone that tries them, even when they had no idea I baked them.

I am by no means an experienced baker or cook. So, I don't understand what on earth these people are doing that make them think this book is horrible. Not to mention, if you don't like the cookies with vegetable shortening and prefer it with butter, here's a solution: don't use it--use butter instead. It's not that difficult of a concept to understand.

Yes, there are a lot of different recipes for the same cookie, for example there might be five different chocolate chip cookie recipes, but I think that's the whole point of the book. There are TONS of different varieties of cookies even when there are five different recipes of the same type of cookie. Not to mention, I'm pretty sure you'll never ever get around to baking every type of cookie in this book. So, I don't see what the big deal is if there are a variety of different recipes for the same cookie.

Customer Review: Good description and nice pics, of course. Just try one recipe, it's chocolate chips cookies something...It's just too sweet for me, well, it's just a matter of taste, I might need to modify a bit to my tastebud. But the rest about the book is fine..Dont hesitate to buy!

Customer Review: I really liked this book! I have most of Esther Brody's recipe books and love them. I think my fave recipe from this book is Dad's favourite chocolate chip cookie - really good. I don't think I've ever had a problem with the outcomes of the recipes but I haven't tried the cookies listed by the previous reviewer. Nice colour pictures of selected cookies and there are tips and helpful hints throughout this, as well as her other books. Easy to follow and there is a great index in the back. Good all around cookie recipe book!

Customer Review: I feel like I was cheated by the author because I've already had her three cookie books by accidentally and all of them are the same.

Every time the book was published, they never informed the customer that it's new or revised edition but the cover were changed so that I could not remember that I had it.

The recipes are simple but good taste, beautiful pictures but almost the same with her other cookie books, just rearranged them. Therefore, check your books very well (that you have not already had cookie book written by Atkinson) before order this book.

I do recommend 'Martha Stewart's Cookies'. It's much better, both recipes and the explanation how to make it, also very beautiful pictures. The most important is that you will not feel that you were cheated.

Customer Review: This is a great book. You'll find a variety of good recipes for healthy muffins. You don't need butter or refined sugars to make a good tasty muffin, and the recipes in this book prove that. I don't agree about the reviewer who says that the recipes are not easy or the items obscure. Certainly they are not the very common ones. I have a large taperware in the fridge with the different ingredients the recipes call for, and that's it, I have always the supplies at hand. Then you just mix the ingredients and voila! I recommend a health food store to buy the ingredients you need, one that sells bulk. You'll find there most of the things you need. And certainly the muffins will be still ok if you mix one ingredient or substitute it, not big deal. I highly recommend this book.
