Customer Review: I am a mature individual learning Spanish from several different resources, mostly free internet sites,of which their are many.
I am utilizing interactive and ipod downloads, quizzes, conversations etc.
on line, and I am learning a lot from them. But,I felt the need for
an actual book,(but not a textbook),with English translation, and the "Reader" is exactly what I was looking for. It's vocabulary is adult, and the stories so far are charming and interesting and give insight into the Spanish culture, past and present.

Customer Review: I have just finished reading this book and was moved to make a comment. First of all, I want to say that this is a complete version of "Three Kingdoms", not an unabridged one.
The Foreign Language Press published this English translation made by Moss Roberts, in four volumes and 2340 pages, which include many notes, several drawings and some maps. The edition was very carefully done.
About the content, I just can say that it is a monumental painting of humanity made through the light of a very difficult time in China history.
One hint: at the end of volume four, a list of principal characters is included, which results very useful along the reading.
As always, thanks to Amazon that brought this book to my hands.

Customer Review: I bought this book for my ailing and flailing French vocabulary. Although I speak fluently, my diminishing vocabulary is directly accredited to my non-use and non-practice of the language. One note - many phrases are translated literally, yet lack the tonality and subtle nuances which are found in true meaning. Otherwise, a very easy read and a useful book for those of us who lack opportunity to speak the language. Would certainly recommend this book for an intermediate level and up.

Customer Review: This book is an excellent collection of classic Russian short stories in the original language plus and English translation. Couldn't ask for anything better.

Customer Review: I would not have purchased this particular edition of Snow Falling on Cedars if I had known it was published for the European market. I gave the book to an American 13 year old who is still learning rules for grammar and punctuation. Although the story is the same, the punctuation reflects the rules of Oxford English therefore, I had to tell her to ignore the punctuation so she would not pick it up and use it in her own American classroom essays. It is a learning experience, of course, but a needless one at this point.

Customer Review: This book delivers on it's promise. Learning in a few months the core meaning in English of over 2000 Kanji and how to draw them in proper order. The later stories in the book require the reader's active imagination, though. I would recommend the website "Reviewing the Kanji" at http://kanji.koohii.com/ Users post their own stories for particular Kanji, and some are truly memorable. Plus a community forum of fellow Heisig Method students for advice and encouragement. I would also recommend the Firefox add-on Moji, on: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/145.
Very good for underlining and looking up Kanji, their roots, pronunciation, meaning and reference no.in a number of dictionaries.
Finally, a good Flashcard program, like Anki, with a deck in Heisig cards included, and you're good to go!
Try Heisig for a month. Give it just an hour a day and you'll be recognising over 300 common Kanjin in the Japanese press and amazing yourself. After that, you will not want to give it up.

Customer Review: This is a great book, that every body who speaks Spanish or is learning Spanish should read. Is full of stories about authors, and people in our Latin-American story. I love to read the life of an author and then match it with his/her writing. Don't miss this book. Order it now!

Customer Review: I was excited to get this book because I thought it would be perfect for me. I have been trying to learn spanish for several years and it has been very difficult because I have trouble with comprehension. Usually I can read spanish better then I can understand it spoken, so I thought this was a good way to build my vocabulary and see the differences between the languages. And perhaps even record myself reading the stories for an extra way to take in the words. While I respect classical literature, this was more classroom/academic oriented then I wanted and seemed to be Spanish from Spain not Latin America. My husband is fluent in spoken Spanish (not necessarily reading/writing) and he didn't recognize some of the simple words so I knew this wasn't right for me. I was looking for more current modern stories at a more simple reading level. I am not saying you can't take anything from it but just wanted to make it more clear what to expect. I hope this is helpful to someone.
